Seasons
Best time for gorilla trekking in Uganda
Gorillas are present year-round. Trails, views, crowds, and package prices are what change.
Drier windows are roughly June–September and December–February: firmer trails, busier lodges, harder permit dates. Wetter windows (March–May, October–November) mean mud, fewer vehicles, and sometimes softer package rates. Rain does not cancel gorilla tracking.
| Months | Trails | Crowds | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jun–Sep | Drier | Peak | Book permits early |
| Oct–Nov | Wet | Lower | Mud; possible promotions |
| Dec–Feb | Drier | Peak | Festive lodges sell out |
| Mar–May | Wettest | Lowest | Long walks in mud are common |
FAQ
Questions travellers ask first
Is there a month gorillas cannot be seen?
No. Habituated families are tracked daily. Weather changes your comfort, not the existence of the encounter.
